Turning off laptop LCD screen can be done via "Power Options" in Windows where the monitor can be set to be off after x amount of minutes. This is extremely useful especially when you about to leave it overnight, say when are downloading something big. There are times though when you feel like to turn it off right away especially if you just want to listen to the music. Unfortunately it can't be done through "Power Options".
There are several brand of laptops that are equipped with the "turn off" button. If you don't have that kind of feature, don't worry, Taimur Asad, the developer of Turn Off LCD comes up with a small brilliant piece of application that will enable you to turn off your LCD screen right away.
He wrote this application in C# using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. It is basically a simple console based application that makes use of a DLL (User32.dll) file from Windows using System.Runtime.InteropServices namespace and then calls the required function.
This small application is only 85 kB and you don't have to install it to use it. Double click it to turn off the monitor and just hit any button to turn it back on. Here's the download link. Enjoy!
