WordPress plugin: Strip nofollow from comments

I just installed Follow URL plugin for this blog. This plugin will effectively remove the "rel=nofollow" tag from the comments you leave in every post; it means every link will be displayed and followed by search engines! The "rel=nofollow" is meant to prevent or somehow reduce spams but as this blog is fully protected by the Spam Karma plugin, I don't see the need of having nofollow tag for each comment left in this blog. I'm just worried when previously Spam Karma gave false positive response to few innocent comments ;)

So by having this plugin in action, I hope this will give some incentives to regular visitors of this blog who take their time to leave comments. Feel free to comment whenever you have something to share with and reap the rewards :)

    Eches,

Thanks for making us aware of the new plugin. This can come in handy for me because I want people to get indexed from my site. That is the least I can do towards helping others. I didn’t know that comments used the nofollow. That really doesn’t help people at all!

I will be sure to get the plugin and install in very soon.

    Garry

Also.. I have a new site I just launched. Can we exchage links? It actually a re-launch for me and it does already have traffic. It is currently a PR3… so it would be worth the exchange. Please let me know.

Dude, you just inspired me to leave a comment and get some of that great link love!

When I set up my WP niche blog I plan on doing away with the nofollow too.

    Hate the nofollow.

    Love the dofollow.

    Rock on,
    Paula

Eches i only use the built in Akismet for Spam protection

If I install this plugin? You sure it wont hurt my Blog health in terms of massive spam :O?

  13. Thilak says on February 28, 2007 at 8:39 pm

DJ Flush: Actually, removing the nofollow tag will have no effect at all (unless that guy is manually spamming you).

Readers concerned about Search Engines, will start comment on your blog (which is quite an advantage in itself)

Agreed with thilak..this plugin won’t increase the rate of incoming spams(from my observation)..as long as you have akismet or spam karma installed, you don’t have to be worried about the spams
