Extended Live Archive (ELA) is one of my favourite WordPress plugin. It increases archive readability by implementing dynamic, AJAXified way of digging into the archives of a blog. The transition is seamless and the only downside that I can spot is, it takes some time to load.
The plugin installation is quite easy and the ELA options give you a lot of freedom on how it's going to appear on your archive page (categories to be displayed, CSS integration, and a lot more) . If you know how to play around with CSS, it gives you the edge to create an elegant decor for this plugin apperance. So get this plugin on board and I'm sure it pleases your visitors :)
