This movie is based on Frank Miller's graphic novel, "300" and is expected to be in the cinema on March 2007.
In 480 BC, the Persian king Xerxes sent his massive army to conquer Greece. From all the finest warriors of Greek city of Sparta, 300 of these soldiers were chosen to meet the Persians at Thermopylae, along with 700 thesbians engaging the enemies in a narrow canyon where they cannot take full advantage of their numbers.
These brave soldiers were fighting in a losing battle. It was meant to buy time for the rest of the Greek forces to retreat from the battle after the betrayal of Ephialtes, a local resident, that tipped-off alternative road which led behind the Greek lines. Even though Greeks were enourmously outnumbered by the Persian armies, that doesn't stop the Spartans from throwing their hearts into the fray, determined to take as many Persians as possible with them. There are few variations of how the battle took place, the numbers of soldiers from one source to another, yet this war was one of the famous last stands in mankind history.
This might be one of the best movie I've ever seen after Troy. Enjoy the trailer.
