Well, it didn't take long for comex to prove that the iPad which was made available to the general public a couple days ago can be jailbroken. Comex recently posted a video of a working untethered jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3. The solution doesn't require any software installation like traditional jailbreaking methods; it only takes advantage of a bug in Mobile Safari in iPod Touch & iPhone. And the same bug exists in iPad OS 3.2.

What is the benefit of jailbreaking iPad I heard you ask. Basically, by jailbreaking iPad you can run third party iPad apps which are rejected by Apple for some ridiculous reasons or restricted applications that can perform task like tethering your iPad to share internet connection etc.
