Mount ISO Files in Windows Vista with Virtual CloneDrive

Daemon Tools used to be my favorite Disk Image Tool but after upgrading my laptop to Windows Vista, I made up my mind to take a look at other similar tools. Virtual CloneDrive came up pretty frequent in Google search engine when I did research on new software for my ISO files, so I decided to try this out. I've been using Virtual CloneDrive as an ISO Disk Image Tools for quite some time and honestly, I love this application better than Daemon tools.

Virtual CloneDrive works and behaves just like a physical CD/DVD drive but in reality it exists virtually. You can mount ISO image onto a virtual drive from your hard disk or even from a network drive.

Virtual Sheep option is purposely designed to differentiate all virtual drives loaded by the software with its own icon, that way you won't be confused with the real drives.

The second option under "Settings" sets the application to auto-mount the last loaded image for easy resuming of your work at a later time. This is a handy feature especially when your ISO image is buried deep inside folders or when you work on the ISO image on a regular basis. It saves you a lot of time!

The second tab (Language) allows you to choose languages of your preference. Once you choose another language and hit the OK button, the application will automatically be closed. The language will only be set after you reopening the application.

Some of the features included in Virtual CloneDrive are:

  • Supports all common image formats such as BIN, ISO, CCD
  • Easy to use - just double-click an image file to mount as a drive
  • Supports up to 8 virtual drives at the same time
  • Virtual CloneDrive is freeware, you may use it at no cost

System Requirements

  • Minimum 500 MHz Pentium processor (1 GHz recommended) and 128 MB RAM (256 MB recommended)
  • Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP/XP64/VISTA/VISTA64
  • If you use Windows 2000 or Windows XP you must have an administrator access

Try Gizmo Drive. It’s even better — it opens disc files AND virtual hard drives too. http://arainia.com/software/gizmo/overview.php?nID=4
