Google imminent participation in the digital distribution of television content and film through its video sharing site, Youtube, may provide an equal thrust to Apple when it comes to distribution domination. Google's YouTube recently was in discussion with Hollywood's leading movie studios to unfold a global pay-per-view video service that could be introduced by the end of the year.

From the discussion, it is understood that the new service is very likely to be first launched in the United States and eventually it will be introduced to other countries.

Google attempts to enter the movie rental business is not a new thing. The have been in touch with major movie studios such as Warner Bros., Sony Corp. and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. since last September but apparently the negotiations took longer than expected.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Google TV will be a success. In my opinion, Google TV is too transparent, failing to unite media from disparate sources into a common interface that makes sense BUT a $5 rental service is a nice addition to the feature list.

After Google acquired Youtube, it never fails to deliver great features to wide range of Youtube users ranging fromYoutube artists to normal Youtube viewers. Youtube recently introduced another useful feature, Deeplink, which successfully amazes Youtube users and keeps them under its spell, making them stick around the Youtube for a very long time. So what deeplink is all about?

Youtube Deeplink is a feature that allows people not only to link directly to a specific video but also to specific time/part of the videos.

To create a deep link, simply append the following to the end of a YouTube video URL: #t=1m15s. This says to link to the time 1:15 - you can replace the numbers before the ‘m’ and the ’s’ with anything you like.

As an additional bonus, if you mention a specific time in a video comment, e.g. "haha 1:14 is funny", this will become a hyperlink. Viewers can simply click on the time and the video will automatically jump to the point you are referencing. It's cool and awesome!

If you have any comment or suggestion, you should drop by Youtube's blog and leave your suggestion there because people over at Youtube @ Google do listen to you.

I've been collecting videos related to renowned classical Pachelbel's masterpiece, Canon (its chord progression is so perfect, so beautiful regardless of renditions played on many musical instruments), since almost a year ago. Lately I've been stuffing my phone with mp3 but hardly find Canon renditions in mp3 format. I managed to grab a Canon song in Ares, so I thought there must a way to extract the audio from Youtube video and I finally found Media Coder.

I'm sure there are several more softwares out there that can perform the same task but I will give them shots at other time. First you need to download MediaCoder
[via. The file is relatively large (19MB), of course, since it can carry out a lot other stuffs. Ok, once you get everything set up;

Transcoding Steps

1. Copy Youtube video URL of your choice and paste it in the Media coder popup ( Add button > Add URL).
2. On the lower left of the interface are the different transcoding parameters. Click on the Audio tab and select the encoder format (i.e MP3 file). Click the Video tab and uncheck the box ‘Enable Video’.
3. Click the Start button to begin converting your file an it should only take a few minutes or so (depending on your internet connection).
4. You may want to set the output directory to a more convenient place prior the transcoding otherwise you need to find the transcoded audio in "temp" folder.

Download MediaCoder

Unlike Firefox which is consistently swamped by the abundance of useful plugins to improve user experience, Internet Explorer is a long way off from providing such things to its users. While "useful plugins" rarely found in Internet Explorer, it is really a gem if you can find a hack on how to ease up certain functions in Internet Explorer.

Youtube Hack tool is a useful tool especially to people who keep looking for new Youtube videos and save them in their local hard disk. To download Youtube videos is really a piece of cake; you just need to right click on the video, click on the "Download This Youtube Video" and Voila!

As Firefox is gaining more and more popularity over the recent years and still shows no sign of abating, the developer will make this useful feature available in Firefox as well soon. I know loyal Internet Explorer users are too eager to put this little hack onboard, so here's the download link.

I've been using Vdownloader for quite some time but unfortunately the current version of Vdownloader is not fully functional. Waiting for ages for the software to be updated, I can't wait any longer and started finding other alternatives that might be doing as good as Vdownloader or much better than it. Finally I stumbled upon Tubesucker, a free software that claims has more features than the rest.

Tubesucker comes with 2 versions; free and premium one which cost you roughly $40. I'm interested in giving review on the free version as I myself using that one. This versatile software has a batch converter, and a built-in media player. With the built in website integrated into TubeSucker, it lets you batch download videos of your favorite artist from YouTube. All you need to do is just key in topic or artist name, click and go. When you come back later on, you already have tons of videos on your hard drive ready for instant playback.

In addition to that it also has more converter formats including AVI, 3GP, MGP, MP4, MP3, WAV, WMV, WMA, MOV. I just realized it can do the conversion after couple of weeks of using it (I put the blame on its interface that grows in complexity as compared to Vdownloader which provides intuitive interface lol). So, for those who might overlook this feature (like me) look at Preferences tab and the conversion option is at the right bottom corner.

Technorati Tags: youtube, tubesucker, vdownloader, tips and tricks

I rummaged through my old posts just now when I found quite a few of them are still featuring obsolete softwares and scripts. One of them is this post; and it still gets few hits daily from search engines. Feeling bad for turning down my visitors, I decided to take effort to find a better replacement for old script used to download musics from myspace. Googling about this thing, I finally reach at Orbit Downloader.

This free software really makes my day because it's a versatile software; superlight, consumes a small fraction of resources and is not loaded with any spyware or malware like many other programs. Equipped with multi-source downloading technology it enables users to experience better downloading speed. Apart from its main functions it can act as a download manager as well to most of file sharing websites such as Rapidshare and Megaupload.

It's not only capable of downloading musics but also videos from many websites. The following is the complete list of social music and social video websites supported by this software.

Social music websites

- Pandora
- Yahoo
- Myspace
- IMEEM
- Radioblogclub
- iJigg

Social video websites

- Youtube
- Myspace
- Break
- DailyMotion
- Break
- Google
- iFilm
- Yahoo
- VideoLog
- TV Links

I personally think this software renders download manager softwares less useful. Why should we have extra baggage onboard if we can put less? One more thing, if you face any problem when you try to download, please visit the FAQ's page. It gives a great walk-through, personalized to every video and music websites.

You should try this out.

Do you experience any hiccup while watching streaming videos? I'm sure it takes place once in a while. Buffering problem does not only affect dial up users but it also happens on high speed users. Speedbit Video Accelerator provides promising solution by employing ground-breaking algorithm that will effectively reduce buffering problems and video interruptions.

Basically it works by pulling up multi-connection streaming as opposed to single connection. The end result is an (up to) 5 times faster connection, which handles the cache buffering (the “preloading” of the movie) much more efficiently.

Currently it supports more than 50 video sharing websites (YouTube (Partial), Metacafe, Dailymotion, Tunes (Premium), Photobucket, Reuters, MySpace, Tudou, ESPN, Bebo, Break, Heavy, CNET TV and many more) with the number of sites supported by this software keeps growing.

As I'm writing this post, it can be used in all browsers and only supports Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 but I'm sure they will make it available for Windows Vista real soon.

I'm sure I might miss out good ones, so please let me know ;) So here the list goes.

1. Anjo.to lets you download youtube videos in normal flv format or convert them to the 3GP, MP3, AVI, MOV, or MP4 (iPod, PSP) formats. Anjo is different from the rest because it has multi load feature where you can submit up to 10 videos. The videos links will later be sent to your email. It allows you to download youtube videos in flv format and it has feature that enables you to share your favorite videos with your friends. They don't have to go to this website to download the video as the download link as well as youtube link will be sent to their emails. Make sure to change the extension to flv after the download is completed.

4. Zamzar is a free universal online converter.
