When I heard Opera submitted Opera mini in App Store, there was nothing that cross my mind except it will be declined outright. However, Apple proves otherwise by accepting Opera Mini into its App Store repository. You can download this small application via App Store and having alternative browser to do your internet browsing.

The interface of Opera Mini appears to be the same like on every other handset and as expected, it renders pages beautifully. The best part about Opera Mini is "Opera Turbo". The images on a web page is compressed and this allows a page to load almost twice as fast when you are on a slow network.

Wait no more. Fire up iTunes, download Opera Mini and start browsing.

Opera 10.5 is currently crowned the world's fastest browser, beating all other big players in web browsing industry. According to Computerworld's test run, Opera is almost 20 percent faster than Google Chrome and 15 percent faster than Safari (Windows). It is also twice faster than the latest Mozilla's Firefox 3.6, over 8 times faster than Opera 10.10 and leaving Internet Explorer way behind.

Key features of the Opera browser include:

Security: Strongest security record among all leading Web browsers

Speed: Known as the "world's fastest browser"

Opera Turbo: Effective on slow networks to load Web pages faster

Customizable Speed Dial: Get easy access to your favorite sites every time you open a new tab

Opera Link: Sync your speed dial, notes, bookmarks and other useful data across all your devices on the fly

Latest Opera 10.5 features Carakan, a new revolutionary JavaScript rendering engine that boasts a new vector graphics library called Vega which in turn handles all graphics rendering in the web browser. According to Opera, Vega renders graphics roughly 3 times faster than the library utilised by the previous Opera 10.10. The incorporation of this new feature allows Opera 10.5 to easily take the top speed spot.

Apple has recently released Safari 4 beta, the latest version of its web browser for both Mac and Windows computers. Safari's latest notch-up brings along few major improvements to justify its claim of being the world's fastest browser. It's not an overstatement like many would think, in fact its loading speed surpasses its predecessor and other close competitors.

Even though Safari is still in beta stage, it is able to load HTML pages way much faster (up to 3 times) than Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7. It can also execute Javascript several times faster than Firefox 3 and up to 30 times faster than Internet Explorer 7. Speaking of Javascript, I know this thing for real since I usually get headache when loading ebay pages that have Auctiva scrolling gallery. It freezes my Firefox every time Javascript loads. This major breakthrough lies on the revolutionary "Nitro" engine which effectively gives Safari lightning speed in rendering web pages.

Safari 4 Beta introduces almost 150 new features. New features include:

Top Sites - A page that displays your favorite or most visited sites where you can configure it to be either a page you see every time you a new tab is opened or your home page.

Cover Flow - Highly visual navigation interface which allows you to browse full history searches, by keyword, title, web address (like what you see in iTunes).

Full-Page Zoom - Zoom in or out on web content using keyboard shortcuts, Multi-Touch gestures, or the Zoom toolbar button for more comfortable reading.

Safari is the first web browser to pass Acid 3, a test run to measure up a browser’s ability to fully render pages using the web standards. With HTML 5 and CSS 3 come onboard, Safari 4 Beta creates better browsing experience and benefits future web technologies.

Massive shift in internet traffic from PCs to smaller devices like iPhone has triggered web browsers to transform themselves to better serve mobile internet users. With the change in the way we use internet, we can see more web browser developers strive hard to create better innovation in order to gain the edge over competitors which in turn benefits people. Speaking of which, Opera has recently come up with Opera Turbo, claimed to be successful in improving browsing speed by compressing bandwidth usage.

Opera Turbo which currently makes its exclusive appearance on Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is able to reduce network traffic and save on data transmissions by compressing up to 80 percent of the transmitted data. This results in cheaper web browsing on mobile phones and faster browsing experience to their end-users, independent of hardware limitations and network constraints.

Opera Turbo does not transcode pages when reducing the size of the transferred page. It offers full support for dynamic Web technologies such as Ajax and Flash (they are not compressed though).

Opera Turbo will be available to Opera Mini, Opera Mobile and Opera Desktop users.
