Antivirus company McAfee has confirmed that the Facebook has been hit by this virus. Facebook declares this virus as highly vulnerable because it could put all the 400++ million accounts at danger.

The virus comes through an email, informing the specific user password has been reset due to some technical reasons. This email claims all Facebook accounts are going through the same thing as well. User is asked to download the attachment which contains the so-called new login details. Upon opening the document, a group of Trojans is unleashed, sniffing for your password.

The anti-virus company McAfee reported:

This threat is potentially very dangerous considering that there are over 350 million Facebook users who could fall for this scam.

This is pretty common for well known social networking site like Facebook to be targeted by hackers. According to McAfee, it is estimated tens of thousands of emails was already sent worldwide primarily targeting users from Europe and the United States.

If you receive an email that reads something like "Facebook Password Reset Confirmation! Customer Support", please DON'T OPEN it and please instantly delete the email upon receiving the email.

Finally the latest version of Norton 360 4.0 is here. Norton 360 which is developed by Symantec, is different from other Norton's products because it is marketed as an "all-in-one" security suite. This suite consists of personal firewall, ability to detect & remove malware, phishing protection, PC maintenance and backup.

Symantec claims the latest Norton 360 4.0 has new features such as Norton Insight, SONAR 2 Behavioral Protection, Norton Download Insight, Norton File Insight and Norton System Insight. These features are not really new though as some people might think because these features had already been incorporated into IS 2010 and Norton AV when both products were launched about 5 months ago. The only things that can be considered as "new" are "Web-based Access to Backup Files" and "Reputation service".

When we are about to decide which antivirus to go for we may collect as many information as we could from magazines, websites and friend's recommendation but their recommendations may subject to several factors such as personal experience. Leak test is one good way of performing security test by simulating different kind of manipulations and attacks on a computer system WITHOUT actually harming our machines. At the end of the tests there are some sort of statistics telling you which tests your antivirus software passes with flying color and which it fails.

Comodo Leak test is one of the many leak tests available on the net. It is a portable security software that will test an antivirus software that is installed on your computer (Windows) with a total of 34 different tests. It provides the means to find out if your computer system is fully or partially protected against common attacks found remotely and locally.

With each test passed you will get 10 point with the maximum points is 340. You can see the the result details after the tests are completed. Basically it tells you what each test is doing and possible danger you are exposed to if it manages to sneak up on your computer.

Unfortunately, malwares like Heap41a take full advantage of this feature in order to spread themselves. This is achieved by copying a malicious executable onto the removable drives and infecting the autorun.inf file, instructing its own malicious file to run silently in the background.

Panda USB and AutoRun Vaccine is a freeware developed by Panda Security to stop the spreading of viruses via removable drives.

As the name suggests, USB Vaccine "vaccinates" PC by disabling Autorun.inf completely so that there is no program could run from any removable drives. In other word, disabling the autorun feature will effectively raise security level of your computer.

For the time being, Panda USB and Autorun Vaccine works only on FAT and FAT 32 USB drives.
