As many people know, Nero is a popular paid CD/DVD burning software. Unfortunately, it shares one common problem with Adobe Reader; it is filled up with the unnecessary applications. To make thing worse, this software doesn't allow users to custom the installation (removing all the unwanted applications). So, after a complete installation it will end up using roughly 650 MB of your computer space. What a waste of space when you realize that you only need is Nero Burning ROM to perform the job.

Nero Lite v9.2.6.0 is a lighter version of Nero 9.0 with many unwanted applications are stripped off. With Nero Lite v9.2.6.0 it consumes less than 50 MB (way much better than the original one).

List of things included in this Nero Lite v9.2.6.0

Nero BurningROM (available in micro version)

Nero Cover Designer

Nero Express (available in micro version)

Nero WaveEditor

Nero ToolKit (DiscSpeed, InfoTool, DriveSpeed, BurnRights)

Download Link

Nero Lite v9.2.6.0 | Nero Lite - Micro v9.2.6.0

Note: This is not a crack @ illegal copy of Nero. You are still required to have a valid product key in order to use this software.

When we have several emails (domains, personal and business) which we check on regular basis, it would be very convenient if we are able to centralize all our emails in just one place. I didn't really bother to pay attention on this feature until I find myself spending more time on login and logout, hopping from one email to another just for catching up all the updates. So here is the several steps taken to have all your mails in Gmail.

How to do it step-by-step?

1. First you need to set up your other email to forward to your Gmail account. Most web-based emails have this. If you are using a premium hosting for your domain you can set the mail forwarding from within your Plesk, cPanel, or any control panel used in your hosting.

2. Next you need to get inside your Gmail account, go to Settings (at the top right) and click "Account" tab. Under “Send mail as,” click “Add another email address.” Enter your name or description of the forwarded mails and key in your alternative email address. You may also specify your “reply to” address if you want recipients to reply to a different email by default.

3. After clicking the "Next step" button, proceed by verifying your action. Verification code will then be sent to the alternative address.

4. Check your alternative email and click on the verification link and your new forwarding mail address should be activated.

That's it. You may want to check whether this works the way it should be by sending your email to the alternative address.

Disk Defragmenter is a built-in function in Windows, purposely built to help Window users to optimize hard disk performance. When my laptop was on Windows XP, I was quite happy with Disk Defragmenter, mainly because it showed me the progress of the defragmentation. Unfortunately that is not really the case in Windows Vista. The defragmentation seems to take ages with no indicator on the progress.

Smart Defrag is a third party software out there that outperform the built-in Disk Defragmenter. It does not only show visual progress but also has a lot of features that beats Disk Defragmenter hands down.

Key Benefits

Extremely easy to use with its intuitive interface

World’s fastest defragmenting engine

Optimize disk performance by streamlining your file system, places the frequently used files and directories into the fastest area of the disk

Works automatically and quietly in the background

Data safe and reliability guaranteed

Smart Defrag is 100% freeware

It doesn't take long to learn all the functions, thanks to its user-friendly interface. If you want to learn more about Smart Defrag, you may find the following video useful.

You can increase your productivity on computer by using your keyboard instead of your mouse. HotKeyz is a keyboard utility that will improve your accessibility to programs in your computer and it is really fun to use! With HotKeyz you can easily create a categorized list of your hot keys. For each hotkey, a key combination on your keyboard, will launch a command. You decide which commands go with which hotkeys.

It features default hotkeys for minimizing, maximizing, restoring, closing the active window, controlling your WinAmp 2.x without it being focused and even launch your default e-mail window to compose a new email. The HotKeyz tray icon will change to indicate a key press. The shortcuts work with the WIN, CTRL, ALT, SHIFT modifier keys and with most of the other keyboard keys. You can even enable or disable unwanted hotkeys without deleting them from the hotkey list.

In order to install a new font, say for Photoshop editing or for whatever reason, we need to open Control Panel > Fonts and we need to copy & paste new fonts into the "Font Folder". That's how it works on Windows XP. This is not really a convenient process if you need to to do it on regular basis.

ClickFont is a small freeware that can help you to speed up the process by installing the font of your choice with only a single right click. By installing this little application, an Install Font entry will be available on the right-click menu whenever specific font related file extensions are selected.

ClickFont allows easy installation of TrueType, OpenType and PostScript fonts with just two mouse clicks, from anywhere in the system. So what makes it different to the SendTo folder? ClickFont copies the fonts, but also registers them properly with a system call.

Stumble upon an inspiring logo but clueless about font being used on the beautifully crafted logo? Or perhaps you might wonder what font is being used on Google logo? To recognize precisely what fonts being used on an image is almost impossible as there are enormous number of fonts in existence and they keep counting.

WhatTheFont provides the solution towards this problem. All you need to do is upload an image file to its server where the image will be scanned and matched with its database. The maximum size for an image is 360 x 275 pixels, so make sure to resize it before uploading. It doesn't have to be a high quality image (although that will definitely help). If you want to get more information and tips about this service, visit its usage notes.

But hey, what if WTF can't find you the closest match of your font? Head straight on to the WhatTheFont forum to get more assistance.

Social bookmarking is becoming more popular and it can be seen from the emergence of hundreds of new social bookmarking sites all over the net. With hundreds of them, efficient submission becomes demanding and this explains why there are several services on the net offer to do the submission on our behalf at a certain price.

Anyway paid submission services lack of flexibility; typically they submit the same description all over the social bookmarking sites. The link building will look automated and unnatural. Sooner or later bookmarking sites will catch you and worst of all you site will be banned forever from their systems. Speaking of efficient submission, I'd already made a review on socialmarker, and yeah it's good at mass submissions.

Anyway, I'm no longer a big fan of socialmarker. One of the reason is it takes ages to move from one social bookmarking site to another. Rather than do mass submission, lately, I tend to use del.icio.us and few more social bookmarking sites frequently and less for the rest.

In the quest of finding alternative and better way in doing bookmarking, I found Bookmarker, a Firefox plugin that enables you to save and manage all your bookmarks online. So far, it supports

1. del.icio.us, digg.com
2. diigo.com
3. ma.gnolia.com
4. mister-wong.de
5. netvouz.com
6. linkarena.com
7. alltagz.de
8. memori.ru

While this plugin is doing great, it doesn't, however, cover most of other social bookmarking sites. So here some other related Firefox plugins as well.

1. Folkd - Social bookmarking made easy! Save, tag, discover the best webpages and share everything with your friends. The folkd.com toolbar buttons and Browser sidebar is all you need!

2. SFE (Simply) - Adds social bookmarking capabilities with tags and notes to Firefox using Simpy. This extension was previously known as Simpy.

3. Alltagz - For use with www.alltagz.de, a german social bookmarking site

4. Delicious Bookmark - The Official Delicious Add-on seamlessly integrates your browser with del.icio.us, the leading social bookmarking service on the Web.

5. Faves - Faves (formerly Blue Dot) is a Social Bookmarking service that lets you save your favorite web sites, tag them, and share & discuss them with your friends, family, and Faves users with similar interests. The Faves toolbar adds two buttons: one to create a bookmark of the current.

This post will be updated from time to time as there will be more plugins coming in, so don't forget to bookmark this post :).

Technorati Tags: firefox plugin, social bookmarking, delicious, diigo, faves, 2. diigo.com, ma.gnolia.com, mister-wong.de, netvouz.com, linkarena.com, alltagz.de, memori.ru

Most of you already know and familiar with fragmented disk that can slow down your computer speed. There are however, few other contributing factors towards this problem starting from trojan viruses that are good at making our computer as part …

Most of you already know and familiar with fragmented disk that can slow down your computer speed. There are however, few other contributing factors towards this problem starting from trojan viruses that are good at making our computer as part of a zombie army, hard disk problem, fragmented registry and the list goes on. In this post I'm going to dwell on fragmented registry.

How fragmented registry occur?

As you install and remove programs, change settings, etc. you are creating registry entries. These bits and settings remain in your registry long after software is changed or removed. They sit there, even if they are just empty folders. Problem is, your CPU is looking in those folders for information it needs to run every operation in the computer.

100 empty folders, 100 useless empty things to look in during every move your computer makes. So the speed you gain is not processor speed, or application speed. Hence, it is an increase in the amount of time (in milisecond) that the computer takes to access the Windows Registry.

So, here are 2 softwares/freebies that will help you in defragmenting your registry and boost up your computer performance.

1. AusLogics Registry Defrag

AusLogics Registry Defrag is another brilliant and FREE product from Auslogic to improve your computer's performance. It has been around the internet for some time and I just knew about this free utilities quite recently.

Basically there are 3 steps in the whole process:

1. The system registry will be analyzed and the level of fragmentation will be checked.
2. The results will be shown afterwards and you may decide whether to take action or not. The report includes the speed of the registry access after defragmentation and how much the registry size can be compressed.
3. The computer will be automatically restarted after the scanning process is completed.

This piece of useful program works just as well as paid-for programs and it's a nice addition to your maintenance utilities.

2. RegDefrag

It's a freeware utility to defrag registry and just recently launched. Quicksys RegDefrag is small (roughly 900 kB)and easy to use. This tool cleanup all important registry and it also provides the necessary tune up a computer needs without modifying any registry entries. Once initiated, it doesn't take long to analyze the fragmented registry. After the analysis is completed you will be asked to restart the PC. For what is worth, this program doesn't start when you start your computer.

From me: I've been using AusLogic Registry Defrag for several weeks and it works like a charm. RegDefrag as said previously, is relatively new. I had run it twice. During the first run, my laptop freezed up but I suspected it was due to memory-hogging programs that run simultaneously. Anyway I just learnt that during the registry scan it freeze for a brief moment (so does AusLogics Registry Defrag).

For the sake of your computer well being, those 2 freewares are highly recommended.

Note:
No other programs should be running during scan and you will be asked for a reboot after everything is completed.

Internet activities are becoming more convenient nowadays with the emergence of web or desktop applications that can centralize many internet services under one roof, making your daily activities more and more efficient. After my recent review on Keepm, I stumbled upon Digsby which basically serves the same purpose as Keepm.

While Keepm put all your online contacts at one place, Digsby is a desktop application that integrates your IM accounts(Yahoo Messenger, AIM, MSN and Google Talk), email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and AOL) and social networks (Facebook, Myspace and Twitter) together. Digsby simplifies the process of having to login to different accounts to get up to date with your friends and associates. With only a single login you are already connected to your entire internet network and it will definitely save you time and effort.

The simplicity of the interface and its intuitiveness is the thing that really catch my attention. The design and its color combination is cheerful and brightful. Apart from its default skin, Digsby also offers 2 skins with several variations for you to choose from.

Other features include combined buddy list for ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Jabber and Google Talk, merging duplicate contacts, tabbed chat windows and 2-way SMS from the IM window. There are few functions that can be performed directly from the Digsby such as "Mark as Read" or "Report Spam" right from the email InfoBox.

Tabbed chatting is a great feature and would be a great feature especially to those who frequently chat with multiple friends simultaneously. With this feature, our desktop and taskbar space will not be occupied unnecessarily by multiple chat windows.

You can see more features here and give it a try. The file size is roughly 17MB and it’s completely free to be downloaded here.

Busy with daily routine and don't have time to manage your online contacts that scattered all over the net? You might make an attempt to sort out your online contacts but you just realize that your contact list has been growing so fast that you can't keep pace with it. With so many useful online applications emerge to improve internet users productivity nowadays, finding a tool that can do this particular task wouldn't be that difficult.

Keepm is an online application tool that will definitely help you in reducing your burden. There are several features in Keepm that will entice you into using the service. First and foremost, it's totally free. Secondly, since this is an online application, you don't have to download and install any software in your computer. So, no more additional software inside your computer.

Ok, let's go with the registration first. The registration is simple because it only requires your name, email address and password. No activation link or anything similar that need to be completed and after you hit the "create account" button, you are already in its system.

There are only 5 tabs inside the system to keep it simple and intuitive for everybody to use. The "add new contact" button is where you can any new contact manually. To start adding new contact, you need to fill up your contact's name before you are brought to the next page where you will be asked to add more details such as telephone number, email addres, instant messenger etc. For this feature I prefer to fill in everything in one go without going to the next page but hey, 2-simple-page is not really tedious.

The "import" tab is the most exciting one. This import function will allow you to centralize your online contact lists from several websites such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Rediff, LinkedIn and Orkut. A step-by-step guideline is also included to walk you through the whole process. Within a few seconds your important contact list of a particular service is already imported inside Keepm.

Exporting contacts are just as easy as importing them and only take just a few seconds to export them into a .CSV file or a Vcard. You may begin the exporting process by selecting the "export" tab. This feature will come handy if you have large number of contacts and need them in one converted format.

Keepm is an easy to use online contact management service in organizing your contact list. The fetching process from other services is also fast. The interface is very intuitive and user friendly. Take your time to test drive this useful application.

Many programs like to start when computer starts to boot. The problem starts when all of these programs try to start simultaneously, fighting for CPU cycles and disk access. For average computer it tends to take ages to load everything to the extent you can't even move your mouse. One of common methods usually used by computer is by removing the the start up programs via Run.. > msconfig. This will effectively kill the startup process of your choice but another issue arise. You may not want to kill the program, you just don't want it to compromise your windows load time.

Wouldn't it be great if we can somehow delay the loading process of these programs so that we don't reach the bottleneck when our computers start to kick off? So here is another useful program you might want to put under your sleeves.

Startup Delayer is an effective program in order to cure Windows boot bottleneck problem. I know the name of this software doesn't evoke thoughts of faster load but It will allow you to setup how many seconds after Windows has started, to load each application. It configures timed delays for each application that starts after Windows boots up. So in some ways it manages a better way of Windows load process by prioritizing the system processes and delaying the not-so-important programs.

So, by using Startup Delayer, you can space out the start time for each application. The tweaking of the timing might be tricky though and needs multiple boots to fine tune the things just right. However there's automatic mode so the feature should come handy.
