Download Safari 4 for Mac and Windows

The 'world's fastest browser' finally reached a stable milestone after in beta phase for a long time. The stable Safari 4 browser which was announced at World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) retains all features in the beta version with significant number of bug fixes.

The browser beats all close competitors in the JavaScript test. This browser which is based on the Webkit engine, pretty much like Google Chrome, gives Safari 4 the edge over other competitors like Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox 3. However the most recent builds available for the other browsers like Firefox 3.5 beta and Google Chrome 3 alpha which contain numerous performance improvements is not applied in Safari 4.

Major features of Safari 4 include ultra fast browsing, panoramic home screen with previews of favorite sites, and even Cover Flow in history along with a huge memory footprint. More detail features are available here.

Apple today released Safari 4, the world’s fastest and most innovative web browser. Available for Mac and Windows PCs and introduced as a beta in February of this year, Safari 4 features the Nitro engine which runs JavaScript up to 4.5 times faster than Safari 3. Safari 4 makes browsing more intuitive and enjoyable with innovative features, such as Top Sites, Full History Search and Cover Flow, and support for modern web standards like HTML 5 and advanced CSS Effects.

Safari is a great browser, but it will probably be handicapped for a long time by those who refuse to try something new.

They succeed once again. I love the fact that they were able to fix the bugs without changing from the beta version.
