Apple iPad Available in US on April 3rd

Author: eches | Files under Apple

According to the announcement made by Apple today, one of its most anticipated products, the iPad, will be available from April 3rd (wifi models) in the US and the Wi-Fi + 3G models will be available by end of April. US customers can start pre-ordering both Wi-Fi + 3G and Wi-Fi models from Apple’s online store on March 12 onwards. Apple users in Australia, France, Canada, Germany, Japan, Italy, Spain, the UK and Switzerland can expect this device to hit their countries by end of April. The pricing for international market is not yet announced but we will hear the announcement soon enough.

Here are some more details that we gathered from the official announcement.

1. It will be available for suggested retail price of

  • $499 for 16 GB
  • $599 for 32 GB
  • $699 for 64 GB

2. The Wi-Fi+3G models will be available at:

  • $629 for 16 GB
  • $729 for 32 GB
  • $829 for 64 GB

Apparently, the device is a bit overpriced as compared to other netbook counterparts. If we travel back through time, so was the first iPhone & the first iPod. Perhaps in a generation or two, the iPad will become popular as the the iPod Touch tried to be. It is definitely interesting to see how the consumers response to the iPad in the market and how they adopt it in their daily normal lives. Only time will tell.
