How many trailers do you really want to keep in your digital storage but you just don't know how to do that? Every time you want to watch trailers, you need to go to Apple.com website, wait them to load before you can watch on your browser. If you are looking for 1080p high definition (HD) trailer, it sure takes ages to load and this is not desirable.
Here's a simple trick that you can perform to directly download the trailers into your computer and watch them at your leisure time. In this example, I use Simpsons the movie and here are the steps taken to download the trailer.
1. Go to view source (View > Source) or CTRL+U in Firefox.
2. Search for 720p or 1080p (or go to 480p, it's your choice after all). You will find something close to this.
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
QT_WriteOBJECT_XHTML('http://movies.apple.com/trailers/fox/thesimpsonsmovie/images4/720p_off.jpg',
'131', '23', '','controller', 'false',
'href', 'http://images.apple.com/movies/fox/the_simpsons_movie/the_simpsons_movie-tlr_720p.mov','target', 'quicktimeplayer','autoplay', 'true');
</script>
3. You need to pick the second URL (the first URL is the image for the trailer button). So in this example, it's
http://images.apple.com/movies/fox/the_simpsons_movie/the_simpsons_movie-tlr_720p.mov
4. Before you start to copy and paste the URL on the address bar, you need to add "h" between "_" and the resolution (in this example "720p")
5. So, it should look like this.
http://images.apple.com/movies/fox/the_simpsons_movie/the_simpsons_movie-tlr_h720p.mov
6. Next you can enter the URL with "h" into you address bar and it's ready for downloading. If the movie trailer is just streaming on your browser you need to use download manager to initiate the downloading process (I'm using FlashGet).
Happy downloading :)
